Exam PDF Parsing and Question Bank
Turn official exam PDFs into a structured question bank with explanations verified by blind testing.
Walkthrough · 21s
The video is an illustration of the process. All data shown is for demonstration.
01 · The request
“I have PDFs of past exam papers and want to build a practice question bank. Questions, options, answers and corrected answers must all line up, and the explanations can't be made up.”
02 · Our approach
- Parse three kinds of PDF, the paper, the answers and the corrected answers, handling questions with several valid answers and free-point questions.
- Questions are split mainly by invisible marker characters, with page position as a fallback.
- Explanations are blind-tested: the AI answers independently without seeing the official answer, and only correct ones are used.
- A spot-check sheet is produced for manual review.
03 · Process
- 01Read the exam and answer PDFs
- 02Split out questions and options
- 03AI answers blind and writes explanations
- 04Compare with official answers, make spot-check sheet
04 · Results
- Trial run on one subject: all 50 questions parsed successfully
- Blind test on 30 explanations: 30 answers matched the official ones
